The Local Wiltshire Conservatives have unveiled a bold new vision for the county, centred, around eight core principles: Community, Opportunity, National Unity, Safety, Enterprise, Rural, Voice, and Efficiency — forming the guiding phrase: “CONSERVE.”
At a time when many residents feel politically disconnected, the CONSERVE initiative aims to refocus local politics on the enduring values that have long defined both Wiltshire and the United Kingdom: strong families, cohesive communities, a thriving economy, and national pride.
With the launch of the CONSERVE initiative, Local Conservatives are offering a clear, principled message that puts Wiltshire’s residents first. From protecting rural livelihoods to delivering efficient public services, this vision places community, responsibility, and
freedom at the heart of local politics.
Brian Burchfield, Chairman of the Melksham & Devizes Conservative Association said, “This isn’t about left or right politics – it’s about local people standing up for the things that matter most: community resilience, personal liberty, and responsible governance. We are here to CONSERVE what’s great about Wiltshire, while boldly addressing the challenges of the future.
What I heard repeatedly on the doorstep during this year’s Local Elections was this: ‘We’re not sure what the Conservative Party stands for anymore.’ The message was loud and clear: Conservatives must return to our core values and communicate them boldly and clearly. Whilst Kemi Badenoch is leading the Conservatives Plan to Get Britain Back on Track with a Stronger Economy and Stronger Borders - we believe Wiltshire residents deserve a voice that truly reflects their values and that’s what Melksham & Devizes Conservatives are working hard to deliver.
Local Conservatives — with our CONSERVE values — are that voice."
